Obama’s Dark Ops.

President Obama does not want you to know what he is doing.  As it has been well documented already, there were eight  (maybe more) times on the campaign trail Candidate Obama called for frank and open discussions of healthcare reform and for them to be televised live on CSPAN.  Once he became President, though, that Idea was no longer “practical” and negotiations were conducted in backrooms with hushed voices.  If it were not for Scott Brown (R-MA), they would have bartered and negotiated one sixth of our economy away on a government run healthcare system.

Now the President wants you to stop watching tv and reading blogs like this one.  What he said was, “…if everybody here turned off their your CNN, Fox(news)… MSNBC, blogs…”, then he would be able to get things done.  Why he said that is because he does not want you to know the details about or even think about the programs and reforms that he is trying to implement.  He wants you to just lie there and take it, he will do what is best for all of us.

Well I do not think so Mr. President.  You will not keep me from watching, you will not keep me from listening and you will not keep me from learning everything that I can about what you are trying to do to us and you will not stop me from passing that information on to other like-minded Americans.  I will keep on blogging, I will keep on talking and I will keep on sharing.   I will shine a light on every one of the policies, scams and schemes that this Administration is trying to keep in the dark.  I for one will not be directed to the back seat of the bus and told to sit down and be quiet.  I am an American!  I will not let any man, I will not let any woman and I will not let any government deny me that rights that have been passed down  to me by the Constitution.

Join me.  Watch cable news, listen to talk radio, read blogs, newspapers and magazines.  Learn all that you can.  Do not fall for the lies and do not let a few people who’s names you do not even know, locked up in backrooms, determine our future.

Join me in this fight.

Arlen Specter; the Kiss of Death.

President Obama is learning this lesson the hard way.  The day that Senator Specter switched parties, the President’s approval rating was at 62%, since appearing with Senator Specter the Mr. Obama’s approvals have dropped to 49% (RCP).  Obama is not the only Democrat to suffer Specter’s curse.  When the PA Senator switched parties, he did so in order to support the Dems and the Stimulus Package.   Porkulus (as it has come to be known) has tainted the entire Democrat party sending their approval ratings in a downward spiral.  Add to that Specter’s continued support for the Healthcare Reform bill, a bill despised be a vast majority of Americans; a bill that is all but dead in Washington.

Specter’s latest victim, the Unions.  Monday in a meeting with union leaders  the dowdy senator informed union leaders that “Card Check”, the bill that was supposed to be their political payback for their unwavering support of Democrat candidates in the 2008 election, has died without a vote.  He did not mention that attaching his name to any bill was the kiss of death, Specter just blamed the election of Scott Brown (R) in Massachusetts for killing any chances of their political top priority being passed.

Senator Specter’s support for the bill was surely its kiss of death.

On a side note, since Specter switched parties last April, Senator Robert Casey (D, PA) has hitched his political wagon to the Specter death march.  Will the kiss of death drag Casey down in 2012, or will the curse die along with Arlen Specter’s political career in November 2010?

How MLK Saved us from Healthcare Reform

Sen Tom Harkin (D-IA), chairman of the Senate Health Committee, revealed on Saturday that the Democrats had a Healthcare Reform deal done.  Late Friday afternoon January 15th, “we had an agreement, with the House, the White House and the Senate. We sent it to [the Congressional Budget Office] to get scored”, said Harkin, but then fate intervened.

Employees of the Congressional Budget Office receive their paychecks from the Federal Government.  Federal employees do not get paid to work on weekends so the bill sat unscored that weekend.  In addition, the Monday following the Democrat’s Healthcare agreement was Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, a federal holiday, delaying once again the CBO’s scoring of the agreement.  The very next day, Tuesday January 19th, Scott Brown (R-MA) shocked the political world by handily beating Martha Coakley in the MA Senate race, stealing away Ted Kennedy’s old seat and eliminating the Democrat’s 60 vote super majority.  Without a super-majority the Democrats could not override a Republican filibuster.  The delay was just long enough, Healthcare Reform had met its demise.

Whether is was Divine intervention or just the way the cookie crumbles I do not know,  but the very same bureaucracy the Democrats were trying to expand conspired against them to slow down the scoring process and effectually lead to the death  Healthcare Reform itself.

Thank you MLK!

A time to Lead.

Friday, January 29, 2010

During his remarks in the State of the Union, President Obama used his spotlight to publicly call out the Supreme Court of the United States. One would think that a lawyer would understand how inapproiate that was. You would hope he would understand that the Court was designed to be above politics, forgoing political pressuring in order to formulate decisions that adhere to the Constitution.

Now I am by no means a legal scholar so whether or not I believe that the President was completely wrong with his assertions is irrelevant. If the President does not like the ruling, it is his responsibility as our “leader” get the legislative wheels rolling in order to change it. Grow a backbone Mr. Obama, forgo the child-like temper tantrum and public complaining, get together with the lawmakers in congress and write a new law.

This president has a serious leadership problem. He wants so much done, but has no desire to get his political hands dirty. The American people elected you to work not whine. Put down the gold clubs, turn off ESPN and get to work.

Mr. President, it is time to either lead, or get out of the way.

Obama calls Clinton mediocre.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

During his Monday interview with ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer President Obama said, “I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president,”. Talk radio and the Republican talking heads were quick to snap back. How dare he insult President Bush like that. He should be focused on creating jobs and the economy rather than insulting his predecessor. Several pundits even postulated that a third option was available was still available to the young president, being a good two-termed president.

Problem is, they were all barking up the wrong tree; Obama was attacking President Clinton not Bush.

Let us be honest here, President Barak Obama would never be so kind as to say that George W. Bush was a mediocre president. The sitting president has centered all of his values and his entire political on the idea that Bush was THE WORST president that we have ever had. A mediocre Bush never crossed his mind.

He was taking a dig at Clinton.

He revealed this the next day when he was trying to talk Marion Berry (D, AR) out of retiring. What did Obama tell the Blue Dog Democrat from the south? 2010 is not going to be like 1994 because you have me.

Arrogance for sure, but insult as well. What the President was telling Berry was this; I am way better than Clinton. In other words, Berry does not have to retire because Barak not going to make the same mediocre turn that Bill Clinton did. President Obama is not going to give up all of the Progressive values and beliefs he holds so dear like Bill Clinton did in 1994. Obama thinks that Clinton caved in to the Right, sacrificing all of his Progressive core beliefs and values to get along with the Republican congress. Something Barak Obama would never do.

President Obama thinks that Bill Clinton was a mediocre president.

Barak Obama is going to give his State of the Union speach on Wednesday night and tell the American people everything they want to hear (lower taxes, cuts in spending, more cooperation), but there is no way he is going deliver on that promise: there is no way he is going to make the same mistake that the Clinton presidency made. Barak Obama will not give in. No matter what words come out of his mouth Wednesday night, tax increases, public option health care, socialized banks and government owned energy companies are all on thier way.

God help us all.

Pondering Pence

Pondering Pence

A low gutteral moan could be heard throughout the Right side of Washington DC as Indiana Rep. Mike Pence announced that he will not be making a Senate run in 2010 The Conservative was leading in early polls and looked like a sure bet to join other newly elected Red Dog Republican in the Senate (such as Marco Rubio of FL) to shake up the GOP leadership, but unfortunately it is not to be.

The only bright spot to the announcement; a 2012 bid for the White House is still being considered

We can only hope!
